It’s been shocking news on social media recently. Tom Hsieh, a legendary entrepreneur, a billionaire and died at 46. During the last few months of his life, he was addicted to drugs, alcohol, and fire.
His whole life is dedicated to delivering happiness for people, but he ended up his life tragically suffering from a fire caused by himself without finding meaning and happiness for himself.
Sometimes people keep chasing after materialistic things such as money, fame, recognition, they lose themselves along the way. The more they have, the more they want. They forget in the end nothing is permanent even their life. And one day even they sit in tons of money with all the recognitions and admiration, but still an emptiness in their heart. They struggle to find the real meaning and purpose of their life.
For a year like 2020 with so many broken things happening around the world, I feel really blessed that I found Falun Dafa. Becoming a Falun Dafa practitioner 3 years ago was a turning point in my life. It helped me to find the meaning of my life.
As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I’ve been learning to let go of many unhealthy attachments. Working in sales, it’s always highly competitive and pressure but since I became a Falun Dafa practitioner, I applied those principles to my work. I always remind myself I’m here to do my work to support myself and my family. I always work hard and try my best in everything I do. I’m not here to compete with anyone, I’m not here to prove or show off anything, I’m not here to gain reputation. I just focus on doing the job and do the best I can. When I’m able to do such a thing, the pressure is literally lifted off. And I feel my job is much more enjoyable rather than pressure or suffering.
Thanks to all the moral philosophies of Falun Dafa, every day I learn to reflect and eliminate negative thoughts. I’ve become a much better person from inside when trying to make my behaviors and actions aligned with the Falun Dafa principle “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance”. For anything in life, as long as I try my best, whatever things happen out of my control, I take them lightly as I believe everything happens for a reason and every person we meet in this life for a purpose.
For the past 4 years, almost every day I start with Falun Dafa exercise, 1–2 hours in the morning. The gentle exercise and meditation not only give me more energies to do work better but also help me to better control my thoughts and stay calm. I now learn to live in the present, not worried about my future. After all, I found myself happier and more peaceful.
May we all find the meaning and purpose of life and live life to the fullest. Life is short and unpredictable, don’t chase after vanity, focus on what matters most to you, and be happy no matter what!
